Global equity funds attracted new shareholders during the summer – investors sought diversification

Global equity funds attracted nearly 34,000 new shareholders during the summer. Shareholder numbers in equity funds increased across almost all fund classes. Despite leading August returns, Finland equity funds recorded negative net subscriptions as investors cashed out profits. Assets under management rose above € 226 billion in August, reaching a new record high. The increase was driven by both strong market performance and net subscriptions. Assets in Finnish mutual funds grew by nearly € 4.7 billion during the month. Net subscriptions totaled € 97.16 million, meaning that the growth in fund assets was primarily attributable to favorable market developments.

By the end of August, cumulative net subscriptions for the year had reached € 5.9 billion, with August accounting for less than 2% of the total. Equity funds attracted € 233 million in net subscriptions, while asset allocation funds recorded € 145 million. Investors redeemed capital from both bond funds (€ 112 million) and short-term funds (€ 171 million).
